The beginning
First of all, forgive my not-so-good english.I use to aim high.
I'm hang tough, never waiting things happen. Where's the fun gettin' everything so easily?
When I was invited to launch my debut novel I was ecstatic, of course. I won't say the typical "I could not believe it was true" because Dead Land was well accepted while I was still writing the blog (one of the best phases). When you gets the chance to release a book, the idea is to sell a lot and soon be known as a writer. Well, not exactly.
In Brazil people are reading much more, I have no arguments against it. But there is prejudice. Brazilian does not read Brazilian writers. In the lists of the most widely read here, 90% are foreign authors. There is encouragement from the "colleagues", the also beginners authors, but they don't bother to read your book and just want to lick my boots, so I'll read them. The worst excuses: "I have not bought your book yet, but is on my list" or "When I have money, I'll buy your book." Apologies...
Since childhood, my biggest dream was to live in the U.S.. Don't ask me why. Perhaps because of the movies, my passion, or the quality of life, or just because of the language. Turning English all looks more beautiful.
Thinking about it - and many other points - I decided to take Dead Land as well. I will not say it did not sell here. Sold well, thank you very much. All the reviews I received was great. There is one negative or another, of course. It's not perfect. But it was enjoyed. So if I can submit Dead Land to other people and countries, why not do it?
It's like starting again, just like I did four years ago. I want to go through the same paths, new readers, suggestions. So please comment and tell me what you think. If my English is a mess, please correct me. If you have something to say, do it. You are welcome. I'm like a sponge. I absorb.
The first chapter is almost translated and will be posted soon. I hope you enjoy a good zombie story. Better, I hope you enjoy a great zombie story. Is that what you'll have here.
See you soon.
